Designing with empathy, structure, and storytelling.
I’m Zelong (Angelo) Jin, a UX designer and Master’s student in User Experience at Arizona State University. My background spans animation, digital design, and HR.
Working in HR has shown me how easily important information can get lost across spreadsheets, emails, and different teams. That experience shapes the problems I choose to work on, especially tools that help people understand what needs attention and what to do next. My animation background also influences how I think about visual hierarchy, pacing, and guiding someone through an experience.
Background
I studied animation at California State University, Long Beach, and later worked as a Multimedia Designer at SOLTECH LLC. There, I updated website content and created visual materials while working with marketing and development teams.
I moved into HR at HeyGears and now work as an HR manager in manufacturing while studying UX. Recruiting, employee processes, and immigration case tracking have shown me how much good information design matters in daily work. EZ Follow grew out of that experience.
I bring both perspectives to my projects: a visual background that helps me shape a clear story, and hands-on experience with the workflows people rely on.
Approach
I start by understanding what someone needs to do and where the current experience gets in the way. Then I use research, structure, and visual design to make the next step easier to see and act on.
Skills & Tools
UX methods: User interviews, usability testing, information architecture, wireframing, and prototyping.
Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Visual background: Animation, 3D modeling, and visual storytelling.
Beyond Design
Outside of work and school, I’m learning tennis and making time for the gym. Both give me a welcome break from screens and remind me what it feels like to be a beginner again.
